The construction of new spaces was integrated into existing elements, which created a further challenge to ensure both sat well together, whilst extending to the landscape beyond. Materials were carefully selected to ensure a depth of richness and quality of texture, colour and surface to compliment one another.
The rear terraces were constructed with a combination of poured concrete with simple gravel, as a colour match but a textural contrast, creating a series of winding paths and planting areas. Long drifts of colourful perennials were introduced to flow out from the house to the lake and landscape beyond.
The carefully constructed pathways allow routes through the garden, whilst seating areas were introduced to provide multiple opportunities to sit and relax throughout the space. These were separated with free standing walls and were intentionally built with unique gaps, which were carefully angled and aligned to create further interest in the projection of different angles of light and viewpoints of the garden.
